Bad news and good news

January 30, 2007
The bad news: this week is going to be a whirlwind! Three exams in one week - this morning was an A&P II exam, then on Thursday a Visual Optics exam with an Ocular Anatomy lab practical that evening. Lots of work to do, and so little time...sorry, all I can say as far as what's been going on lately has been the usual - studying, then exam time, and the cycle repeats. Not much exciting lately...

BUT some good news: I was interviewed by the California Optometric Association (COA) and they are going to do a spotlight of OptStudent.com in their newsletter. How exciting! I'll keep you all posted with the latest news regarding the article.

A short breather

January 21, 2007
There hasn't been much new lately as far as optometry school goes...I got over a bunch of exams, and this week will be a breather week. Then the week after that, more exams until reading week. I finally had some time to spend some time with friends and loved ones and also was able to catch up on some movies that I've been wanting to watch (Little Miss Sunshine, Children of Men, Saw III, and a couple of episodes of Band of Brothers - and they were all pretty good). So as busy as optometry school can get, there seems to be a good amount of time to relax too during your first year.

Oh, and if you like Korean BBQ and you're in the LA area, there's a good place in Koreatown (near downtown LA) called Manna Korean BBQ. It's all you can eat Korean BBQ for about $15!!! I just had it this evening and they serve some quality Korean BBQ for a very good price considering it's all you can eat. If you go there, email me and let me know what you think!!!

Little room for error

January 11, 2007
I came up with one thing I don't like about SCCO...and that's the fact that many of the exams here do not leave much room for error. For example, our Optics II exams only have 16 questions!!! So here is the breakdown for how many questions you can miss:

Miss 1 (15/16) = 94%
Miss 2 (14/16) = 88%
Miss 3 (13/16) = 81%
Miss 4 (12/16) = 75%
Miss 5 (11/16) = 69%

There is very little room for error, as you can see! I used to favor the fact that we have frequent exams, but this kind of stuff makes me I wish that we had block exams (i.e. clumped together separated by a couple of weeks) instead of weekly exams.

Back from break

January 03, 2007
So I'm back to school from a long winter break but unfortunately I am greeted by a series of exams. I have a Health Care Policy & Administration exam on Thursday and A&P lab practical this Friday. Then for two weeks after that, I will have exams on Mondays and Thursdays. That pretty much ruins my weekends for the next two weeks!!!

Oh, and after a long break I only worked out once!!! I need to get back in shape especially after the several Christmas and New Year's parties throughout the break. But with the exam schedule for this month, I don't know how I will do that! Argh!!!
